The National Institute of Research and Development for Biological Sciences is the Romanian legal entity in the coordination of Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitization.

By the Order of the Minister of Education and Research no. 5755 / 06.01.2020, starting with 01.01.2020, the INCDSB accreditation is granted for a period of 5 years (according to the criteria of the HG 477/2019). Following the evaluation, INCDSB obtained “very good” rating.

ICGEB have launched a web platform COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2 Resource page at: https://www.icgeb.org/covid19-resources/ to provide Resources, Tools and Know-how to fight the SARS-CoV-2 Virus that causes COVID-19, free of charge, to its Member State.

This is an online, Open Source and is being shared across our networks. It provides the most up-to-date information on how to diagnose infection and, importantly, provides information on primers, PCR protocols and RNA extraction procedures, which can be developed ‘in house’ and do not require bought-in kits. The contact for further information is available at: covid_resources@icgeb.org. ICGEB are also offering positive control RNA, and Information for isolating and working with the virus, and for sequencing for subsequent surveillance purposes. All of this is backed up by direct technical assistance with on-line video tutorials on the isolation and detection of Sars-CoV-2 RNA. Protocols and expertise in the production of Interferon alpha, which has been reported to have some beneficial effects in the treatment of Covd19 infections, is also being made freely available on the website, together with links to additional reading, and the possibility for in-house training in its production.
