  • In vitro investigation of the new bioactive agents with the cellular structures of normal and malignant cells for the identification of the mechanisms of action underlying to antineoplastic, immunomodulatory or normolipemic effects;
  • In vitro evaluation of cytostatic and cytotoxic effects of different bioactive agents based on reactivity of metabolic and membrane processes;
  • In vivo investigations on physiological effects of electromagnetic radiation with low intensity and frequency on animal body; interrelations hypothalamus – hypophysis – target endocrine glands; hypothalamic – extra-hypothalamic mechanisms involved in regulation of hypothalamic neurosecretion, endocrine system activity, intermediary metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins, energy and hydromineral metabolism, thermoregulation, feeding behavior etc.;
  • In vivo preclinical studies regarding the pharmacodynamic effects of bioactive products synthesized, bio- or semi synthesized;
  • Biosynthesis of biological active substances (glucans and ergotic alkaloids) by Claviceps purpurea strains, substances usable as antitumoral agents (intraspecific hybridization, fungal culturing in laboratory and bioreactor conditions, spectrophotometry);
  • Isolation, molecular and biochemical characterization of some indigenous Rhizobium strains able to form nodules in economical important leguminous plants as well as suitable for bioremediation (omics technology, applied biochemistry and biotechnology);
  • Wastewater bioremediation from textile industry (optimization of fading process of polluted waters with textile stains of azoic nature by yeasts and fungi);
  • Plant biochemistry: characterization of biotypes from ”future plants” group with impact on ecological and durable development in pomiculture (Hyppophae rhamnoides ssp. carphatica, Rosa canina L., Cornus mas, Lonicera caerulea, Aronia sp.), regarding to nutritional value of fresh or conserved fruits and their microbial load;
  • Plant cytogenetics: study of chromozomial structure and establishment of karyotipic traits of some plant species with economical importance (karyotypes and idiograms build);
  • Ecophysiological studies regarding plant metabolism and stress; influence of different chemical substances on biosynthesis of photo-assimilatory pigments, on carbohydrate metabolism and water regime;
  • Biodiversity of some invertebrate groups (mites, insects): morphology, taxonomy, ecology and chorology studies;
  • Investigation and monitoring of biodiversity in some protected areas. Structure and functions of terrestrial ecosystems under impact of some natural or anthropogenic factors;
  • Assessing the anthropogenic impact exerted by industrial pollution, hydrotechnical measures, mining or intensive agriculture; edaphic mites, bioindicators of soil quality;
  • Eco-pedological and pedo-biological studies regarding impact of pluvial erosion, salting, acidification, compaction, excess or deficiency of moisture on fertility and quality of soil resources in agro-ecosystems;
  • Establish generating sources of risk and how to intercept the flow cultivation technology; analysis of risk factors on the soil; soil health card;
  • Investigation of diversity, ecology and biology of some entomophagous insect groups (parasitoids, predators) in order to identify new agents for biological pest control in agriculture and forestry;
  • Extending the use of biological agents – some natural enemies of pests in agroecosystems in order to reduce to the maximum, until the complete elimination of insecticides;
  • Study of tri-trophic relations plant-plant feeder-natural enemy, as a basis for establishing effective and consistent measures of biological control;
  • Studies on invasion mechanisms of some plant species; identification of new biological control agents thereof;
